Prior to the 2022 energy crisis, South Korea electricity was cheaper than in China and the US – thanks to a combination of nuclear, government policy, and natural gas being at a decent price. Now the price situation has flipped, which is a big deal for an economy which retains a large amount of heavy manufacturing, dominating global shipbuilding for example until China took pole position from 2021.
