Two of Australia’s biggest billionaires Andrew Forrest and Mike Cannon-Brookes, both mining magnates, have concluded their latest contest over the Sun Cable megaproject, with Cannon-Brookes emerging as the new owner, while Forrest withdraws to pursue (many) other renewable investments. Cannon-Brookes’ new vision of the scheme is to build in smaller phases, while retaining the AAPowerLink concept leading to Singapore. In contrast, Forrest would have converted the project to ‘just’ another domestic green hydrogen complex.
