North Carolina has become the latest state to add to the US’ targets for offshore wind, setting out a goal of 2,800 MW of capacity by 2030 and 8,000 MW by 2040. The Executive Order estimates that this will spur $140 billion of investment over the next 15 years to develop projects from North Carolina up the Atlantic Coast, while helping the state towards achieving its Clean Energy Plan of a 70% reduction in power sector greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050.
