TIP’s OpenLAN working group is home to the OpenWiFi disaggregation project that aims to break apart WiFi hardware and software – removing the incumbent vendor stranglehold, and opening up the market for smaller vendors and more flexible network deployments. At an initially frosty breakfast at the TIP FYUZ event, a group of TIP insiders advocated for bringing the openness of Open RAN to the WiFi-focused side of the telco equation.
