Much discussion of the internet of things (IoT) revolves around adapting traditional operator models forbns of connected machines and sensors. However, the latest start-up in this space, Senaptic, is keen to break with the cellular industry model. Rather than the ‘build and they will come’ approach of mobile sectors, it believes in cutting the ties with cellcos, and rolling out networks only where there is a readymade application and demand.
