There is an astonishing report out of Inner Mongolia of a record low EPC contract for wind farm project development of just $299 per kW – and that really is the total project investment cost! The project in question is 500 MW, to be built with 10 MW sized turbines, at the Eren Port on the border with Mongolia proper, and even includes a battery component (100 MW, 2-hour, and making up at least 5% to the cost). Just a year or two ago $299 would be more like the price per kW for the wind turbines by themselves in China.
