AI upstart Anthropic has pledged to donate its Model Context Protocol (MCP) project to the Linux Foundation, where it will be housed inside a ‘directed fund’ called the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF). With Big Tech support, MCP efforts now have a shot at ditching the proprietary lock-in fears, but ‘agentic’ tech is very much still a solution in search of a problem – and one that is poised on the edge of an AI bubble set to burst.
