A group of Nowegian companies – including Norwegian Electrical Systems, Davyard Design, and Havila – are developing the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell cruise ships, which could be operating on Norway’s fjords from 2023. The design intends to implement a 3.2 MW hydrogen fuel cell, which will run on liquid hydrogen, allowing the vessels to sail over long distances with zero emissions. The project aims to satisfy the Norwegian governments plan to phase out CO2-producing vessels from its world heritage fjords from 2026.
