Private Networks Forecast 2024-2029

After a turbulent two years, the Private Networks market grows to $7.19 billion opportunity in 2029, with 8 million active cells

The past two years have been turbulent in the private networks market. This is a reflection of the wider macroeconomic conditions, but also the fallout from a very hype-driven consensus, observed in 2021 and 2022. Enterprise adoption of private cellular networks has been slower than most had hoped. WiFi remains a strong indoor rival, to even the most advanced 5G installations.

Nonetheless, progress is being made. The largest vendors (Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia) are supplying both the Tier 1 MNOs that are shoring up their own offerings, as well as cloud computing and traditional IT vendors. While the largest enterprises have shown most interest in private networks, small and medium enterprises (SME) are now appearing in announcements with healthy regularity.

This report draws from extensive industry engagement and from our own in-house datasets and knowledge base, which spans more than 20 years of research. The report provides clear projections for:

  • The rate of adoption of private networks, including 4G, 5G Non-Standalone (5G-NSA) and 5G Standalone (5G-SA).
  • Roadmaps and forecasts plotting which countries and vertical markets will turn to which technology, in their efforts to improve their network conditions.
  • Precise technical discussions of the challenges facing each technology and region.
  • The identity of the key players in each market.
  • The requirements of the main use cases.
