ARM, Cisco, Dell, Intel, Microsoft and Princeton University’s Engineering school have formed yet another IoT-focused industry body. Called the OpenFog Consortium, as its name suggests, the group is working on advancing the technology needed to move computational power closer to the network-edge – a model that Cisco calls fog computing, due to its closer proximity to the ground/source than the cloud.
