A trio of silicon specialists have announced what they claim is the first intelligent always-on vision sensor designed for power and cost constrained IoT applications. CEVA, emza, and Himax will be demoing their creation at CES, and hope to get a foot in the door of a nascent market with huge upside. Many IoT apps will clamour at the chance to add vision functionality to their stack, but in most of the current market, that ability is unfeasible due to a combination of BOM cost, network costs, or power requirements.
