A seemingly brief item from Gracenote, now a Nielsen company, had us in a bit of a quandary this week and we are still waiting for a reaction from the firm, who we plan to speak to next week. But it seems that Gracenote has a new Mobile Video Analytics package, to build into apps. At first glance it looked like it was not an “on device” piece of code but given that it can report on things as diverse as video resolution, start-up times and buffering, it has to have some agent on-board the phones, available to build into apps.
