Even before 5G has delivered much for two of its three major use cases, research on the supposed next sixth generation has intensified and attracted more interest at MWC 2022 than hitherto. This has been the case for previous generations, but one difference this time is that a lot of the interest is geopolitical rather than just technological and concerned with new use cases, as in the past.
