Near Field Communications (NFC) has been boosted significantly by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has provided a springboard for expansion in areas such as wireless charging and automatic personalization of devices such as smart watches and location trackers. Above all, the pandemic has established tap-to-pay as the de facto method for everyday transactions, as well as transportation ticketing, with the smartphone increasingly taking over from dedicated cards or tokens as the device everybody has.
