Telefónica has become the latest partner for Qualcomm’s extended reality (XR) efforts, and the companies flagged their new cooperation under the metaverse banner. As in other such Qualcomm collaborations, the partners will work on the chip giant’s Snapdragon Spaces XR Developer Platform, in this case connected to Telefónica’s fixed and mobile networks. This deal follows the launch of Snapdragon Spaces almost a year ago, in November 2021, initially as an augmented reality (AR) developer kit that the company said then would “enable the creation of immersive experiences that seamlessly blur the lines between our physical and digital realities”.
