AI encroaches ever further into the media and entertainment landscape this week. A new report from WPP-owned media investment firm GroupM claims that AI will touch half of the world’s advertising revenue this year, while Eurovision Sport is jumping aboard the hype train as it trials automated text-to-speech commentary for coverage of the Athletics Team Championships in the Silesia region of Europe later this month. To Eurovision Sport first, which has cloned the voice of former World silver medalist and commentator, Hannah England, to be used as the guinea pig for this first attempt at virtual commentary for a real life sports event.
