The Japanese government is considering selling its one-third stake in NTT, in order to fund increased spending on defense. A spokesperson for the ruling Liberal Democratic Party floated the plans on TV, as a way to avoid raising taxes. UScellular’s owners, Telephone and Data Systems and the United States Cellular Corporation, are exploring sales option for the firm. Options include bringing an additional partner in, according to a somewhat vague press release.
