There are signs of layer 4 switching (L4S) gaining purchase among operators, as Vodafone prepares to deploy Nokia’s version of the technology. This comes just two months after Verizon showed equal enthusiasm for the technology’s potential in time sensitive applications after a trial with Ericsson. Wireless Watch discussed how L4S works then, and the question now is how best to accommodate it within the whole panoply of latency reduction mechanisms, as operators look beyond trials to active deployment.
