AT&T has decided that the relatively small number of customers it has in that low performance stationary sector can be economically served by Cat-M and ultimately 5G RedCap, even though they will be over provisioned with higher performance than they need. This dichotomy between AT&T and its two principal US MNO rivals reflects their distinct target markets. Rather like Vodafone in Europe, AT&T has majored in the automotive sector and cellular Vehicle to Everything (C-V2X) connectivity, with several big OEMs, such as General Motors, as partners.
