It may be years yet to 4G sunset but already the process of refarming spectrum is underway. Bharti Airtel has started re-farming mid-band spectrum previously allocated for 4G LTE service to expand 5G capacity in the 1800, 2100 and 2300MHz bands across India to cater for rising demand and traffic. The same happened for 3G for which many operators began refarming spectrum from 2G years before the latter was finally shuttered. This had the effect in some cases of strangling the service to the point at which it was so poor usage died out.
