An IoT market forecast from 5G Americas has claimed global IoT connections now stand at 3.4 billion devices and will reach 5.2 billion by 2029. The study, which also examines 5G penetration, despite being billed as an IoT forecast, has scant detail. On top of the 3.4 billion IoT devices (of vague providence), the report says there are 6.7 billion smartphone connections globally. This will grow to 8.2 billion by 2029, it claims.
