In its brief Q2 update, Ericsson has charted the lay of the land for the global mobile market. The takeaways are that the total number of mobile subscriptions globally has reached 8.7 billion – equivalent to 107% penetration. Ericsson states that the number of unique subscribers stands at 6.5 billion. There were 7.7 billion mobile broadband connections, which receive data services.
