Even astronomers and broadcasters expressed cautious satisfaction over the outcome of the recent World Radio Conference (WRC) 2023 that concluded in the run up to Christmas. These two parties have been on the defensive at recent WRCs, against RF interference for radio telescopy for the former, and loss of frequencies for digital terrestrial transmission for the latter. The fast-proliferating constellations of non-geostationary satellites are the major cause of problems for radio astronomers, while mobile services have been taking over low band spectrum previously allocated to DTT broadcasting.
