BSkyB has made its scheduled and on demand movie services available via its Sky Go TV Anywhere service accessed from iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices as well as PCs and Macs, with Android coming soon. Existing Sky Movie subscribers get the service for free, while non-Sky customers can obtain it via a monthly subscription. As such the move is part of BSkyB’s twin pronged OTT strategy, on the one hand to pre-empt fragmentation of its revenue to OTT providers, while also wooing new customers unwilling to install a satellite dish or take out a long-term contract.
