The 6G backlash is gathering steam. This was evident at the 6G Global Summit in London last week, which was ostensibly held to rally operators, vendors, regulators and other interested parties. However, the summit became a forum for discussion of various emerging technologies that have been shoved under the 6G hat largely because they are emerging at the time slated for 6G launch. These include Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS), high precision location and sensing, and fully integrated out of band or sidelink connectivity of particular interest to the automotive sector.
