BT is the latest telco to ramp up energy sustainability efforts across its whole supply and operations chain, in the wake of various studies that have identified a major gap between rhetoric and reality over 5G energy efficiency. This gap partly reflects teething troubles as 5G beds in, but also the complexion of electricity generation in different countries, with varying reliance on fossil fuels.
