The US Supreme Court’s recent overturning of the Chevron decision was immensely controversial. Now that the dust has settled, it is time to consider the impact that the event will have on the operators and the regulatory agencies that oversee them. In essence, the Chevron decision was a longstanding piece of legal precedent that granted authority to the multitude of federal regulators in the USA – asserting that the regulator was expert, and therefore that its decisions were sound, when it came to interpreting laws.
