Increasingly we have heard about movie services that include the option to burn the film to a DVD, and not just one that will play in a PC, but in all DVD players. Behind this appears to be the availability of technology that can also burn in the content scrambling system (CSS) content protection into DVDs as the content is written, meaning that they stay protected after the burn.
