Startup ElectrIQ Power has taken the wraps off its PowerPod, a home battery that will be going head to head with Tesla’s Powerwall units, in a market that seems to be heating up. The $9,000 11 kWh unit still shows how far pricing has to travel for these energy storage units to become mass market retrofit options, but the technology seems to have proven itself. The PowerPod’s price includes the cost of the inverter, which is something that Tesla’s system does not.
