The European Union is being lobbied by Ericsson and Nokia, in an attempt to create a new economic resilience that can weather the looming full-scale trade war between the US and China. The bloc has seen its collective influence wane, and with the US now entering a more isolationist (or at least transactionally nationalist) phase of its economic strategy, the time is now. To this end, arch-rivals Ericsson and Nokia teamed up to convene the New Industrial Ambition for Europe summit – joined by semiconductor manufacturing titan ASML, and enterprise software powerhouse SAP.
