The EU is reaching a compromise over the controversial European cybersecurity bill under pressure from national governments, the open-source software community, and leading technology firms including telcos. However, in classic fashion, the fix appears last minute, and done in hindsight rather than from the outset. Both Nokia and Ericsson joined major European electronics and engineering groups, such as Siemens, Bosch and Scheider Electric in calling for modifications to avoid supply chain bottlenecks that would otherwise result from the proposed measures.
