Cellular offload is on the agenda again, but is now being driven by cable companies – at least in the USA, where it is coming at least partly as a response to the highly successful assault by mobile operators with Fixed Wireless Access (FWA). Offload is also being driven by the desire to cut costs associated with provision of multi-play services that include mobility through MVNO agreements. The more data that is offloaded onto their own coaxial networks, the less cable companies pay to their MNO partner, which is often Verizon in the USA.
