Generative AI has instigated a new wave of excitement among operators in 5G Mobile Edge Compute (MEC) five years or more after the first announcements and deployments. Verizon is the latest to stake out its position with the claim from CEO Hans Vestberg that the carrier is best placed to maximize the potential of GenAI edge computing.
