The GSMA has published its Mobile Economy Europe report, with the headline claim that Europe is lagging behind North America, East Asia, and the Gulf Cooperation Council states, when it comes to 5G. The report is good ammunition for the Ericsson-Nokia summit, and the timing is not coincidental. The claim that 5G will have provided a €164 billion boost to the European economy by 2030 is, of course, contentious, as we are unable to heavily scrutinize the workings behind that calculation.
