The EU is making a disastrous choice in pursuing its favored ITS-G5 specification, which incorporates the IEEE 802.11p WiFi-based V2X technology, argues the GSMA. In an exasperated letter, the GSM Association has illustrated a number of flaws in the proposal, and is calling for lawmakers to rethink the issue. Of course, one should treat pro-cellular claims from cellular supporters with the appropriate skepticism, but the GSMA letter does raise important points.
