The MNOs have dropped the ball. As Patchen Noelke, VP Head of Marketing, put it at MWC, the MNOs have let this problem get so bad that in some markets, the consumer automatically assumes that a call on their phone is a scam. The number of unwanted calls, of which a good chunk are actively malicious, is damning. The latest report examined 221.3 billion calls, surveyed 12,000 consumers, polled 1,800 workers that use voice calls for their jobs, and 600 security and IT executives. As it stands, 92% of consumers believe that an unidentified call is fraudulent, and so 46% of these unidentified calls are not answered.
