Intel has announced a new corporate strategy for artificial intelligence (AI) that it says will help AI-based technology come to the fore of business tasks and deployments. Of course, Intel hopes that its products and services will remain central parts of this new dynamic, but the company is facing building pressure from rivals in the emergent market. The new strategy seems to center around its new Nervana platform, based on assets it acquired back in August from Nervana, as well as its Xeon processors and Xeon Phi PCI-e accelerator cards (coprocessors) – which are going to be updated in future releases to better support the Nervana tech in the silicon itself.
