Intel’s well documented travails may be coming to a head amid rumors of a swoop by Qualcomm to acquire part or all of the company, despite all the regulatory and logistical hurdles that would entail. Such a move would on the surface make more sense for Intel, whose stock has risen on the rumors, than for Qualcomm, whose share price has fallen. However, Qualcomm might be attracted by some parts of Intel, more in the design business but less on the foundry side.
