Irish specialist in secure SIM technology Kigen has announced two partnerships designed to shore up cellular IoT platforms and services. This comes at a time of growing traction for both variants of permanent on-device SIM governed by the GSMA’s eUICC specifications. Kigen is teaming up with Sweden’s Neue, and the USA’s Teal. Preference for embedded SIM (eSIM), where the SIM is soldered onto the circuit board as a separate component, or iSIM where it is integrated as a dedicated logic area into the device SoC, depends primarily on size and capability of the device.
