There are many tensions between the cellular and satellite industries when it comes to 5G spectrum, especially when MNOs eye frequencies in the C-Band which are currently occupied by satellite. However, there are also many opportunities to work together, and advances in satellite technology are raising its value as an integral part of universal, next generation connectivity. Cheaper, more powerful satellites with lower latency and more commoditized ground equipment and devices – these can be the key to truly universal coverage.
