MediaTek has had a busy CES, unveiling a new smart home collaboration with Google, celebrating a design win in Nvidia’s new GB10 chip, and launching a powerful new flagship smartphone SoC. Arch-rival Qualcomm, meanwhile, issued a flurry of announcements, largely focused on the PC and automotive markets – somewhat ceding the consumer electronics field to MediaTek, at least at CES. The largest MediaTek announcement came in partnership with Google. The two unveiled a new connectivity chipset, combining WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, aimed at the smart home.
