The RedCap 5G IoT platform continues to divide opinion over its prospects, partly because it covers a vast panoply of the IoT firmament. At MWC, 2024 RedCap was sometimes presented as merely the successor to the current LTE-M cellular IoT protocol, which would therefore have to wait for LTE sunsets kicking in around the end of the decade before it enjoys serious take up.
