Some good news for Nokia in a week dominated by question marks over its future role in the Verizon 5G build-out – the Finnish firm is to be the primary partner in Telefónica’s 5G deployment in Spain. After two years of working together on pilots and showcases, the Spanish operator has awarded a broad contract to Nokia, including supply of its AirScale base stations, plus IP, optical transport and fiber networks, with roll-out and support services.
