T-Mobile has announced a ‘technology partnership’ with Ericsson and Nvidia, housed in a new R&D center in the US. The trio will explore how AI-based technologies can be used in the RAN, and on the back of this, Nvidia has launched its AI Aerial offering. In typical fashion, T-Mobile announced the project to “advance its 5G leadership position that is already years ahead of its closes competitor.” This bluster might betray some insecurity, as most operators the world over are generally unhappy with the return on their 5G investments.
