Boston-based TV station WWOO-LD was recently granted experimental permission from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to deliver a first-of-its-kind proof of concept in 5G Broadcast technology. The feat, achieved just days before video tradeshow IBC 2023, is also being trumpeted as the first low-power TV demonstration in the US market. In other words, for any and all organizations invested in ATSC 3.0, it is worth keeping close tabs on developments around the fledgling 5G Broadcast.
