RedCap has crystallized as the fourth major 5G use case drawing the other three together into a comprehensive wireless package capable of serving most conceivable mobile applications both outdoors and indoors. As such it overlaps and competes with a plethora of other wireless protocols oriented initially towards the IoT, such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), the IEEE’s UWB, Thread, the Matter standards supported by the Connectivity Standard Alliance, and the principal four LPWAN protocols.
