Orange stages 5G industrial trials with Schneider Electric Orange has deployed an indoor, private, virtualized network over experimental frequencies in an industrial IoT project at the Le Vaudreuil factory in France of energy and automation system manufacturer Schneider Electric. Operating in some degree since March 2020, this co-innovation project is investigating use of 5G to meet future requirements for greater efficiency and further automation. The hope is that low latency, very high throughput, and eventually network slicing, will enhance existing industrial processes, while ushering in new ones around augmented and virtual reality, as well as facilitate remote operation.
