The long-heralded global smartphone bounce back continues with Samsung taking more than its share of the spoils at the expense of Apple. It was a strong quarter almost all round for Samsung, which attributes revenue and market share gains across several key segments to the Generative AI wave. While GenAI should in theory benefit other vendors equally, Samsung has been very vocal about its incorporation in top-end Galaxy smartphones, while in other sectors it is playing to increasing AI-driven demand for servers, storage systems and memory chips, in particular.
