Since February Sharp has been shipping its new Aquos Q+ sets that can play 4K content in a much higher resolution than a 1080p set. The sets have 16 million subpixels, compared to a standard 1080p TV’s 6 million subpixels, but less than a 4K set, which has 24 million subpixels. The Sharp sets upscale 1080p content and downscales 4K content. They can display up to 2,160 vertical and 3,840 horizontal lines, but display less for content with less resolution.
