The telco sector has long been subject to cybersecurity attacks as the custodian of critical infrastructure, but these have escalated recently, driven by growing global dependence on mobile networks. As well as being subject to direct attacks, mobile services are also vectors for assaults on other sectors, especially finance on the consumer side given increasing reliance on mobile banking. Telco networks are also naturally the vehicles for dissemination of damaging Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.
